Who doesn’t love freshly made homemade Masoor Dal Moth Namkeen? I absolutely love to have Namkeen with my evening cup of chai. I am one of those who don’t understand the taste of sweet cookie with chai :P. Nothing like evening tea paired with something salty and spicy.

I loveeeee Dal Moth Namkeen and especially the one made with Masoor Dal. I had a packet of nylon sev lying in my kitchen stock and was thinking of using it in something. It randomly clicked why not make Dal Moth Namkeen from it. After a quick google search, the next thing I did was soaked Masoor Dal overnight.

The recipe of Masoor Dal Moth Namkeen is really simple. Soak the masoor dal overnight or for 5-6 hours. Dry it completely before frying on a kitchen towel or using tissues. Fry them in heated oil and once cooled down mix it with nylon sev and spices as per your preference.

Dal Moth Namkeen Recipe/Masoor Dal Moth Namkeen

Nothing like Fresh Homemade Masoor Dal Moth Namkeen. I absolutely love it and enjoy it with my evening cup of tea. Prepare it and store in airtight container and enjoy.

Ingredients

  1. Soak 1/2 cup of Masoor Dal for 6-7 Hours or Overnight
  2. Spread it on Kitchen Towel or Paper Towel to remove the water
  3. Make sure the dal is completely dry before frying
  4. Prepare the spice mix - Add 1/2 Tsp Chaat Masala, 1/4 Tsp Red Chilly Powder, 1/4 Tsp Black Salt, Pinch of Hing/Asafoetida
  5. Heat Oil in a Pan till smoking point. Add dal in batches and fry untill it floats on top
  6. Transfer in a bowl and add 1/2 cup of nylon sev
  7. Add the spice mix and mix it will
  8. Allow it to cool completely
  9. Store in airtight container and enjoy with Tea
