Restaurant Style Sirke Wali Pyaz / Vinegar Onions Recipe – Video Recipe
No visit to any North Indian food restaurant is complete without those Sirke wali pyaz or vinegar onions that they serve before the meal. The Sirke wali pyaz is usually served before the main course. And most of the time we start having it with the green chutney and salt even before the food arrives. And we can’t help but ask for more servings of these sour onions with a slight sweet taste.
These Restaurant Style Sirke Wali Pyaz are so easy and simple to make at home that you can make them and store them as well. I make them quite often now at home, especially when I have some guests coming. It makes the special Punjabi or North Indian meals more special such as Matar Paneer, Chole Bhature, Kadhai Paneer, Chicken Curry, Biryani etc. It also compliments the simple daily meals very well too.
Sirke Wali Pyaz
To make these sirke wale pyaz ideally it’s good to use the small red onions, but if in case your can’t get them you can use the normal red onions and slice them into four pieces or into thin rings as per your liking. The beautiful red color of these Sirke Wali pyaaz is achieved without using any food color, but can be obtained naturally with the use of Beetroots. Soak the onions in the water, vinegar mixture for 12-24 hours and it is ready.
Sirke wale Pyaaz is something special which goes with almost every North Indian meal. It’s good to have onions because raw onions helps in lowering the production of LDL (bad cholesterol) and keep our heart healthy. Onions are good source of vitamin C also. They possess anti-inflammatory and anti bacterial properties as well. I never tried it but I think these pickled onions can be used in sandwiches, burgers or wraps. It will taste good in those subway types subs also. Okay, so now watch this video to know “How to make Sirke Wale at Home”.
